GeoJasper is a free and open-source tool that allows for the seamless conversion of image files into a geo-supported format. It is an extension of the JPEG2000 JasPer library and includes command line transcoding capabilities for maximum versatility.
What's more, GeoJasper supports a range of bit channels, including 8, 12, 16, and 32, and it can easily handle images with more than 4 channels. It supports both striped and tiled images for reading and writing, and is also compatible with images geo-referenced through World Files (TFW).
One of its impressive features is its ability to combine three 1 band TIFFs into one RGB image. Furthermore, it can print geo data without decoding the whole JPEG2000 image, showing it exactly like the "listgeo" application, including projection information and lat/long for tie points. For example, it can print geo data without decoding the whole JPEG2000 image.
GeoJasper has recently added XMP tag support, which allows for seamless transfer of XMP tags between jpeg2000 and TIFF images. If you're looking for an open-source tool that can manage your geospatial images and metadata with ease, GeoJasper is worth giving a try.
