iPhoto Diet helps reduce the size of iPhoto libraries.
This utility is especially useful prior to burning iPhoto libraries onto CDs or for freeing up hard drive space. Users have the option to run iPhoto Diet manually or set it to run automatically at desired times. It is also available in multiple languages and welcomes contributions for additional languages.
Some key features of iPhoto Diet include the ability to eliminate duplicate photos created internally by iPhoto or imported by the user. This software can also remove iPhoto's backups of rotated or modified photos, strip the thumbnail icons of photos, remove thumbnail photos that have become mixed up with high resolution photos, and identify photos which have not been added to albums. Additionally, users can weed out unnecessary folders and files from their libraries.
The latest release of iPhoto Diet includes iPhoto 6 support, and the software is now a universal binary. The "Remove Original Backups" options have been reorganized, and an option to remove originals within iPhoto libraries only (relevant only to iPhoto 6) has been added. All albums created by iPhoto Diet now begin and end with double-dashes (--) to make them stand out from the user's albums.
To use iPhoto Diet, users must have Mac OS X 10.3 or later and Apple iPhoto 4, 5, or 6. Overall, iPhoto Diet is an excellent software solution for those who want to quickly and easily slim down their iPhoto libraries without compromising quality.
