Lightning Nightly Updater is an extension for Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 and up. It adds a menu item to the Help toolbar menu, from which you can install the latest nightly build relevant to your OS and Tb version.

Lightning Nightly Updater (Unofficial) for Thunderbird extension allows you to check if today's build is out and open the corresponding Mozilla's FTP folder.

Note: The Lightning Nightly Updater add-on is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
