This software can retrieve all MP3 files listed in one or more M3U playlists by dragging and dropping them into the program.
m3u2mp3 is designed to run without any issues on Mac OS X. You only need to drag and drop one or more M3U files, and it will automatically fetch all the MP3s that are referenced in the M3Us. By associating m3u2mp3 with M3U files using Finder's Get Info feature, you can double-click the M3U files to launch them with m3u2mp3 and download MP3s with ease. If you want to customize or enhance the underlying Perl script in this app, you can access the app's package contents and directly edit Contents/Resources/script.
Do not worry if you are not running Mac OS X. m3u2mp3 can also work on other platforms with the help of the Perl script. You need to have Perl installed, plus a downloader like wget or curl. The Perl script is easy to use whether you are on Mac OS X or any other platform. Still, you may need to edit the line in the script that sets the $DOWNLOADER variable if you want to use other tools like curl.
To use m3u2mp3 from the command-line, you only need to add the name of the M3U file(s) as arguments. You also need to check the DropHandler registry script before installing it to ensure that your Perl is in the right location (C:Perlbin) and to ensure that you will not miss any other actions previously associated with .pl files. Although some might hesitate about modifying their registry, this is a straightforward file-association/drop-handler script that does exactly what you need.
The icon utilized in the Mac version of m3u2mp3, as well as the icon used for M3U files associated with the app, come from mattahan's Umicons volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4 with permission granted.
