MAME OS X is an emulator that has been natively ported to the Mac operating system. It is based on the popular MAME emulator, which allows users to run various arcade games and classic home console titles on their computer.
MAME OS X automatically searches for ROMs in ${HOME}/Application Support/MAME OS X/ROMs. Upon procuring ROMs, you're able to start up the game simply by typing in the game name in the dialog box. Please note that most game names are shortened to 8 characters or less. To access a list of game names, simply run the ROM Audit tool from the "Tools > ROM Audit" menu. This tool can be incredibly helpful for organizing game selection and better streamline your gaming experience on MAME OS X.
