Working with Cubase SX is easy, as the MIDI tracks just need to be set to monitor to receive the MIDI output. This tool set comes with several plugins, each with features unique to it, for instance, Stokastik. It is a MIDI plugin that generates random spaced notes, with an exponential distribution. The note duration between notes can go up to 1 second, as per the user's preferences. However, values around 0 are avoided, as they might overload the CPU.
Currently, Stokastik is monophonic and never stops outputting MIDI. In the future, the developers hope to add more features, making it more polyphonic and acting as a pseudo arpeggiator. If you find this tool useful, do give your feedback to the developers.
Another plugin is ENV2MIDI, which is designed to analyse incoming audio signals to extract the envelope, which is then converted into MIDI continuous controller. The third plugin is MIDICCMAP, which helps people using plugins that don't support MIDI learn and/or hardware controllers without presets. Currently, the plugin only allows mapping of one controller.
To install, all you need to do is decompress the archive and put it in your plugins directory. Overall, MIDI Tools is an incredible tool set that is useful for anyone looking for new ways to create music.
