This software offers a simple method to share a script that can redirect multiple files and folders to the user's computer.
During installation, clean.sh, cleanbasic.sh or cleanmm.sh scripts will be installed in the /Library/Scripts folder of the local machine. There's a login and logout hook set on the local machine, so that clean.sh, cleanbasic.sh or cleanmm.sh scripts run each time a user logs in or logs out. Only users with network homes, including mobile accounts and portable home directories, will be affected. All local accounts will bypass these scripts.
NHRBasic.pkg can redirect the network user's Caches and Fonts folders to the local machine (Caches into /tmp and Fonts to /Library/Fonts). The NHR.pkg, on the other hand, can redirect the network user's Caches and Fonts folders, Microsoft User Data, and AppleWorks User Data folders. It is, however, vital to ensure that the local admin user has launched all the office applications- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and AppleWorks -before using this package.
Note that the local admin user's Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Clip Gallery Preference file must be deleted. Otherwise, Clip Art Gallery will hang on network home users. NHRMM.pkg has all features of NHR.pkg, including redirecting the network user's Movies, Music, and Pictures folders to the local machine (in /Users/Shared/). Also, NHRUninstall.pkg can remove all scripts and login and logout hooks from any previous NHR package installation.
Overall, Network Home Redirector package installer is an invaluable software that not only enhances server performance but also makes file and folder redirection a breeze.
