The Nikon D2H camera's firmware can be updated with D2Hs Firmware Update 1.01 for Macintosh.
One of the major changes in this release is the improved autofocus performance. This means that users can expect their cameras to focus more quickly and accurately. Additionally, Nikon has corrected an issue that prevented the AF-assist illuminator from firing when certain Speedlights were used. Specifically, the issue affected the SB-29S, SB-29, SB-23, SB-22S, SB-22, and SB-20.
Another area of improvement in this firmware update is the camera's flash performance. Previously, there was an issue where the top portion of images captured at a shutter speed of 1/250 s with a Speedlight SB-800 using Distance-priority manual flash (GN) or Manual flash (M) with full flash output (M1/1) mounted on the camera would often appear dark. This issue has been addressed, but users should note that the guide number is reduced by approximately 0.6 EV under these circumstances.
This firmware update also corrects errors in Dutch menus. Currently, the update is only available in Japanese, but Nikon plans to release the firmware in other regions soon.
For those interested in downloading the update, the package includes AD2S0101.bin, BD2S0101.bin, and release.txt. Overall, this firmware release offers important improvements to autofocus, flash performance, and other key features of the D2X and D2Hs digital SLRs.
