The Nikon D2X firmware update 1.01 for Macintosh is now available, offering improved compatibility and performance for users of this camera.
Additional improvements in flash performance have been added to the new release. Previously, users observed that images captured at a shutter speed of 1/250 s with an SB-800 Speedlight set to Distance-priority manual flash (GN), or a manual flash (M) with flash output set to full (M1/1) mounted on the camera often had a dark top portion. This issue has been addressed, and under certain circumstances where the guide number is reduced from that of full flash output level by approximately 0.6 EV.
Furthermore, the release has addressed another color-based issue. Images captured at white-balance settings of Incandescent, Direct sunlight, Cloudy, Shade, and Choose color temp. used to have a reddish tint, but this issue has been fixed with the new software release. Also, errors in Dutch menus have been corrected, making the firmware version 1.01 more user-friendly.
It's important to note that, at the moment, the firmware update is only available in Japanese. However, Nikon promises to update other regions soon. The new update package comes with several files, including AD2X0101.bin, BD2X0101.bin, and release.txt, which is included in the download.
Overall, the latest update has made some significant improvements to the D2X and D2Hs digital SLRs. With faster and more precise auto focus, flash improvements, and color correction, a better photography experience is guaranteed.
