The software enables trees to grow on your desktop screen and move around following your computer mouse.
One of the best features of Offshoots is that you can use it with your existing desktop wallpaper or choose a favorite solid color. If you select the default option, the application will randomly choose among one of its predefined colors.
If you really like the current image on your desktop and you want to save it, you can copy the image to the clipboard (Command-C or from the menu) and save it from Preview or your editor of choice. Alternatively, you can simply hold on the current image with Pause command.
One of the biggest concerns that users have with applications like Offshoots is whether it will hog their CPU. Fortunately, this is very unlikely to happen as the application uses a reasonable portion of the CPU time. You can also change some parameters to further reduce the CPU load if necessary.
When you're performing some heavy computation, you can pause Offshoots from the menu or by using Command-P. This can be useful if you need to free up some additional computing resources. Overall, Offshoots is a fun and unique tool that can add some life to your desktop background.
