This software is an open source implementation of the EDIINT AS2 standard using Java.
The EDIINT specifications come in two variants known as applicability statements, and they are AS1 and AS2. The AS1 variant utilizes SMTP as the transport protocol which is an IETF standard as specified in RFC3335. However, with AS2, HTTP is the preferred transport protocol for data exchange, and it is a proposed IETF standard. The most significant difference between AS1 and AS2 is that the latter requires a dedicated Internet connection with a static IP address, while the former does not. Hence, AS2 is the preferred choice for most companies as it delivers a better data transmission experience, whereas AS1 only provides store-and-forward capabilities.
The number of companies opting for AS2 is on the increase, which is why our development team prioritized the implementation of AS2 as our primary software solution. With the OpenAS2 project, businesses can effortlessly exchange data using secure and efficient transfer methods. It's easy to use, and unlike other solutions, it requires no significant investment in infrastructure. Additionally, it's open-source, meaning that the software is free to use, easy to customize, and there are numerous guides to assist you in navigating its use. Overall, OpenAS2 is an excellent software solution that provides the best protocol standard while ensuring the highest level of data security during transfer.
