Entourage's Out Of Office software allows users to set and track away messages easily. The software helps keep team members aware of one's availability, making it particularly useful for remote work.
This software comes with some exciting new features and bug fixes making it even more efficient. One of the new features is the ability to turn on debug-level logging without the need for another application compiled and delivered. They've also added a help file that should answer any questions users may have in regard to configuring preferences. The software now correctly saves any recent changes made by the user.
Previous bugs have been fixed and issues resolved, such as the app now recognizes when to append /exchange/ to the URL and when not to. Some configurations were causing issues, but this has been resolved in the new update. The text in the preferences window has also been changed to "Outlook Webmail URL" instead of "Exchange Server URL," which could be confusing. Additionally, the app's default time to poll has been changed from 10 minutes to 2 hours to avoid being too aggressive.
There are some known/unresolved issues users should be aware of. Out Of Office only works with webmail configurations using HTTP authentication, making it unable to handle specific webpages that require users to enter in credentials. The app also lacks the ability to display progress feedback, such as waiting for user input or for OWA to respond. Lastly, users must have an account on an Exchange Server, and access to Outlook Web Access (Exchange Webmail). Although it is not necessary, having Entourage is beneficial as OutOfOffice can use its Keychain for login information.
Overall, Out Of Office is a desirable software for Entourage/Exchange users as it provides them with a user-friendly interface, speedy response, and an easy way to set and monitor away messages along with their status. With some new features and bug fixes in the recent update, it is even more efficient.
