Password Key is a Macintosh security software designed to protect your system by enabling the creation and storage of reliable passwords.
When used properly, Password Key should provide you with at least the knowledge of "illegal attempts" to enter your system, and at best, a system that is left alone with its integrity kept complete. The software records the date and time that the session was started and covers the screen, locking you out of any other programs that may be running, including the finder. Then, it waits for the user to enter the password.
If the correct password is entered, it records the fact that this was a "successful entry," and then quits, allowing access to your system. On the other hand, if an incorrect password is entered, the software records the entry, along with the date and time, for you to view later. After five incorrect entries (or any number you set), the user is warned that the system is shutting down. A siren sound is played, the illegal entry is recorded, and the computer is shut down (or not, depending on your settings).
If the user attempts to break out of the program using any command key sequence, the system records the attempt and then shuts down immediately, keeping them from accessing the system. Some key features of "Password Key" include rejecting incorrect passwords, providing password security, allowing multiple users, providing startup protection, keeping a log of login attempts, recording date/time of incorrect passwords, reporting previous activity after login, running when leaving the computer, single or rotating color background, and auto-starting after idle time.
The only limitation of this software is that it will allow any password to work, and you will continue to receive a reminder when you run it that it is shareware and unregistered. Overall, Password Key is an exceptional software for providing excellent security measures for your Macintosh system.
