Pix Picks is image processing software that can interleave pixels from multiple bitmap images in a folder. It operates on a sequential basis, to create unique blend images.
Pix Picks offers a wide variety of results based on how many images you use, the variation between the source images, and the resolution and dimensions of the output image. Due to its reliance on loading every bitmap and retaining them in memory for fast operation, Pix Picks does use quite a bit of memory.
As for the visuals of the output, if the horizontal resolution of the new image is a multiple of the number of source images, the resulting image will mostly feature vertical stripes. If you change the resolution by one pixel, though, the stripes will become 45° angled. Additionally, if you have two source images and the resolution is an odd number, you'll get a halftone-style checkerboard composite of both images.
It's important to note that Pix Picks can only output 24 bit TIFF files. To use the files generated, make sure you have suitable design software and some bitmap images in a common format. You'll also need QuickTime 5 or higher to run the program. Overall, Pix Picks is an excellent choice for any designer looking to create unique and abstract mosaic displays from bitmap images.
