Portable version of Inkscape software now available.
Installing Portable Inkscape OS X is a breeze. Simply drag the "Portable Inkscape OS X" folder to your portable device, whether that's a USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, or other portable device. You can even install it onto your internal hard disk if you prefer. Then, clicking on "Portable Inkscape OS X" will open up Inkscape from your portable device. Just be patient as it may take a moment to start up.
One thing to keep in mind is that Portable Inkscape OS X requires either Apple's X11 or XDarwin to be installed. Apple's X11 comes included in the "Optional Installs" package on the OS X install disk.
Unfortunately, there is a known bug at the moment that may prevent Inkscape from working if it's located in a folder that contains a backslash, ampersand &, pound #, pipe |, forward slash /, or double quote ". However, any other printable characters should be fine.
To use Portable Inkscape OS X, you'll need at least 40MB of free space and X11 installed. Overall, this is a great option for anyone who needs a portable and powerful vector graphics editor.
