An open source application combines a text editor and slideshow manager in a package.
PowerMaker's basic idea is that a document consists of pages (slide/portrait/landscape) with content. Its content consists of (graphical) objects and text containers with paragraph formatting. Text containers can themselves contain graphical objects. The layout of pages is derived from layout page definitions (master pages).
Some key features of PowerMaker include WYSIWYG editors for text, graphics, diagrams, tables, formulas, etc. The software also has a full-screen slide presentation mode, character, paragraph, page style, table format, images, etc. catalogs, an automatic layout for paragraphs, pages, tables, formulas, footnotes, etc. It also supports import/export in XML, HTML, and RTF 1.6 and ASCII/Unicode.
PowerMaker also has a plugin architecture for import/export filters and new WYSIWYG editors. It is an Open Source Project licensed under the Academic Free Licence 1.0. Overall, PowerMaker is a powerful and effective tool that is easy to use for anyone familiar with Text/Word Processors and Presentation/Slide Show Managers.
