The PPP/PPPoE Color Menu updates color to represent connection status.
Before downloading this software, I was stuck with the default black PPP/PPPoE menus that come with Apple products. The only indication that you were disconnected was some small grey dots that were hard to see. With PPPoECM, the status is much clearer and I am so glad I made the switch.
One thing that's great about PPPoE ColorMenu is that it doesn't require any modifications to the /System/ folder, which is a huge plus. Additionally, the program offers different menu color options depending on your personal preferences. If you are red-green colorblind, or simply just want a less colorful option, PPPContrastMenu and PPoEContrastMenu are available, which display black when connected and grey when disconnected.
Another fun option included in the archive is PPPGothMenu and PPPoEGothMenu, which feature a more unique color scheme of bruise-purple for connected and blood-red for disconnected. It's definitely a spooky option, but fun nonetheless.
The latest version of PPPoE ColorMenu includes a preview image that shows all six PPP[oE] menu options available. I've been using this software on my MacOS X 10.3.5 - 10.3.9 devices without any issues. What's even better is that there's no need to upgrade binaries as none have changed. Overall, I highly recommend giving PPPoE ColorMenu a try if you're looking to improve your PPP/PPPoE menu experience.
