Quake III: Team Arena is an impressive multiplayer first-person shooter game with 3D graphics.
Moreover, the recent release of the game has fixed two significant issues. The first one is CVE-2006-2082, which addressed directory traversal and information leakage in the Quake III Arena auto-download feature. This vulnerability allowed malicious clients to download files from the server if the sv_allowDownload 1 setting was enabled. The second issue, CVE Pending, prevented a malicious server from exploiting a buffer overflow to execute a shellcode on connecting clients.
To run this software, one requires at least a 3D-accelerated PCI or AGP video card with a minimum of 16MB VRAM and Apple OpenGL version 1.1.2 (or higher) support. In addition, the operating system should be Apple G3-350 MHz or higher, and a 64 MB RAM and 16 MB video card are essential. The game requires 440MB of uncompressed hard disk space for each game, 240MB Virtual Memory, and a quad-speed CD-ROM drive (600K/sec sustained transfer rate).
