Quantum FX is a professional audio toolkit with the ability to create custom plug-ins suitable for your needs. It allows you to design and experiment with different sound effects with ease.
However, when you can't seem to find the right effect for a specific task, that is where the Quantum FX Workbench comes into play. Even if you're not an expert programmer, you can confidently build custom plug-ins by dragging, dropping, and connecting the available audio modules on the screen. You can even audition your design with recorded or live audio as you go. Additionally, the on-screen controls are very flexible, although there are times where hardware knobs, sliders, and keys are a more natural interface. That's why Quantum FX allows you to control plug-ins using your favorite external MIDI control surface, keyboard, or pedals. With db audioware's easy-to-use MIDI Learn functionality, it's simple to associate any on-screen control with the optimal hardware control.
Some of the key features of Quantum FX include 57 ready-to-use effects plug-ins, an easy-to-use effects building environment, a vast library of high-quality audio DSP building blocks, and an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer for in-depth visualization of plug-in operation. It also has VST and Audio Units versions of all plug-ins, with automation, fully customizable graphics for plug-in GUIs with support for animated controls/meters and realistic shadowing, sidechain operation independent of host software capability, full MIDI control, with easy-to-use MIDI Learn, cross-platform support for Mac OS X Universal and PC Windows, online Effects Library to share plug-in designs, and supports Core Audio compatible soundcards on Mac OS X.
Furthermore, the Building Block Modules are supplied in the workbench, including around 140 basic DSP modules, over 20 high-level modules (e.g., speaker simulators, multi-way crossovers, amplifier components), and more than 50 factory effects. All Quantum FX plug-ins support all audio formats up to 24-bit depth / 192kHz sample rate, and To audition effects, Workbench supports AIFF (.aif), Ogg Vorbis (.ogg), and Wave (.wav) audio files at 8/16/20/24/32 bit depth / 44.1kHz sample rate.
Finally, Quantum FX has a minimum internal precision of 32 bits and 64 bits precision for critical calculations, such as compression, limiting & linear phase filters. As for the requirements, you will need a G4 1GHz or better or an Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz or better. However, there are a few limitations such as the inability to save effects from the workbench, workbench use limited to 15 minutes at a time, and plug-ins emitting random bursts of noise from time to time.
