This software allows users to save the current webpage or selected text as a new plain text file, which automatically opens in the default text editor. The process saves time and minimizes distractions.
One of the features I found very helpful was the ability to specify which folder the file is saved to. By default, the script will save the file to either the Downloads folder (for Leopard users) or the Desktop (for Tiger users), but users can also choose their own folder within the script file. This is done by opening the script in Script Editor and following the instructions.
In addition, users can set an option to open the saved file in the background, minimizing interruptions and maintaining workflow. The script also includes a custom toolbar icon, which allows for easy access and use.
Installation of this script is simple and involves unzipping and moving the script to the path "~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Camino/". It is important to note that the tilde (~) represents your home folder and any necessary subfolders need to be created if they don't exist. Once installed, the script will appear under a "Camino Scripts" heading in your system-wide Script menu when Camino is the frontmost application. Users can customize their Camino toolbar by dragging the "Save Page Text" script from the "Customize Toolbar" drop-down sheet.
It is important to note that "Save Page Text" script replaces the Download Page Text script for users of Camino 2.0b3+. Overall, I found this script to be a useful addition to my workflow and a valuable tool for anyone who regularly works with text content from the web.
