The Firefox add-on, Search Type B, offers users the ability to customize their toolbar with the addition of a Search Bar.
One of the great things about Search Type B is that you can add other elements like separators to the search folder without affecting how it works. Additionally, if no keyword is suggested, the extension will pre-fill the keyword with something random. You can also select the search folder for "Add a Keyword for this Search" and open tabs using the middle click on autocomplete results (if browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick is set to true).
Modifers like Alt/Command/Ctrl and Command/Ctrl+Shift are supported for keyboard, autocomplete click, and dragging. Results can also be loaded in a new tab by default if searchtypeb.load_in_tab is set to true. Multiple sites can be searched by using a subfolder or by creating a bookmark with a space-separated list of keywords as its keyword.
Finally, Search Type B adds Charset and PostData fields to the Bookmark Properties Dialog. To use this extension, you'll need to be using Firefox.
