The Sonnet Processor software allows for easy installation of necessary files to support Sonnet processor upgrades on applicable computers.
One added benefit of Sonnet Processor is that it can also update the Startup Disk X control panel. It'll move the original Startup Disk Control Panel to the Control Panels (Disabled) folder after the update. This control panel enables your system to switch effortlessly between Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X System Folders, especially where Mac OS X was already installed.
However, it's important to remember that if you've previously altered the extension name (i.e., added spaces to the file name) of Crescendo, Sonnet Processor Upgrade, or Encore in the past, Sonnet Processor installer will not remove the old version automatically. You'll need to do it manually from the Extensions Folder.
The software is compatible with a large variety of Apple Macintoshes as well as Mac OS clones. Some of the compatible models include the PowerBook 1400 Series, Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh, Power Macintosh G3, Power Macintosh G4 and others.
There aren't any new features in this version compared to the previous release. Still, it's worth noting that Version 3.1 is the same as Version 3.0, which only added support for Encore/MDX G4 Duet processor upgrades.
