This software is a waveshaping distortion plugin with a unique feature of feedback control for shaping. It is a standard plugin but offers an interesting approach to shaping sound. Summary done in 27 words.
When you switch the Source switch to Env and turn up the Feedback, you can create a gating effect that is controlled by the amplitude envelope of the input signal. On the other hand, switching the Source switch to Wave means that the shaping is controlled by the instantaneous output of the plugin, resulting in a harsh, abrasive distortion.
It's worth mentioning that the shape control also acts as a volume booster at certain settings, so be mindful of that. The name (and the names of the presets) comes from the album 'Soul Force' by The Dance, and the plugin certainly lives up to its name.
As it's a distortion effect, be warned that the plugin can get pretty loud. But if that's your thing, then this is certainly the plugin for you. Additionally, if you're curious about the technical side of things, you can find the blender file used to create the GUI in the accompanying source code zip.
As for installation, simply copy the SoulForce.vst file into your VST plugins directory (usually found at ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST). And remember, Soul Force! is provided and licensed under the terms of the MIT License.
