The SVG.enabled Toolbar is a Firefox add-on that enables users to easily toggle the SVG.enabled option on or off.
The toolbar displays the current state of the svg.enabled preference and must be clicked once before it shows the state correctly. It also features clear label and tooltip text to avoid any confusion. By clicking the drop-down arrow, users can set the preference to true (enabled) or false (disabled). The drop-down also provides a link to navigate to the SVG Basics and the SVG 1.1 specification.
Customization of the toolbar is possible for users who prefer more options. By right-clicking the default Firefox toolbar and choosing "Customize", users can select from a palette of toolbar buttons they can add to the default toolbar. One of the buttons is added by this extension and starts with the label Built-in SVG, but this label changes to reflect the state of the preference. After dragging the button to their preferred toolbar, users can click "Done". Additionally, they can right-click the default Firefox toolbar and uncheck the SVG Prefs Toolbar toolbar to hide it.
Regular use of the toolbar means that when svg.enabled is false, Firefox Deer Park Alpha 1.1 will not try to render SVG content. This applies to both embedded SVG tags and SVG documents referenced by the or tags. In the case where a page uses SVG, users must refresh or reload using F5 or Contrl-R in Windows to see the effect. If a user has another way to render SVG, for example, by using Adobe SVG Viewer or another plugin installed, the plugin will get a chance to render the SVG. However, a plugin will only work for SVG included as a document, and not for inline SVG.
To use this extension, Firefox 1.0 - 1.5.0.1 is required. Overall, SVG.enabled Toolbar provides a hassle-free way to enable or disable svg.enabled with a clear and concise interface that can be customized as per user preference.
