This software is a collection of command line tools that can be used across different platforms for handling MPEG data.
tsinfo and stream_type tools provide quick and helpful reportings of data, whereas esdots and psdots give an overview of entities in the stream represented with characters. tsreport reports on TS packets, and esreport reports on ES units, frames, and fields. Simple manipulation of stream data is done with help from es2ts, esfilter, esreverse, esmerge, and ts2es tools.
With es2ts tool, you can convert ES video, including H.262, H.264, and AVS, to TS; esfilter delivers either a filtered or truncated version of ES, ideal for generating a file of a simulated "fast forward" ES video data. To merge audio and video ES, esmerge is used, while esreverse delivers a filtered and reversed version of an ES data, used for generating a file of simulated "Reverse" ES video data.
Other tools include ps2ts that converts PS to TS, ts2es extracts an ES stream from a TS file, tsinfo reports program info for a TS file, and tsplay provides playback for PS/TS file over UDP using timing info or TCP, and optionally distorts data being sent over UDP to test diagnostic purposes.
