This software allows users to synchronize their Twitter status and Adium status in both directions.
To use TwitterIt, all you have to do is type "%_TwitterIt" as your custom status message. Once you have done this, TwitterIt will replace that text with your Twitter status whenever it is running. TwitterIt periodically checks if there have been any changes to your Twitter or Adium status messages and then syncs them in both directions seamlessly.
Installing TwitterIt on your Mac computer is easy. Simply open the terminal and type "sudo gem install rb-appscript htmlentities json". Opt for json-1.1.1 (ruby) and let the script install Ruby scripts necessary to run TwitterIt. You need to establish the TwitterIt directory and extract it from the Zip-file. Place the TwitterIt directory in your preferred location - preferably in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Scripts/.
Once you have extracted and placed the TwitterIt directory in the above location, you will also need to edit the file twitterit.rb. You can do this by specifying your e-mail and password.
Finally, you will have to add "Run AppleScript" to the Connect event from Adium's preferences. Browse to the TwitterIt directory and select the file TwitterIt.scpt (the AppleScript). Once you connect in Adium the next time, TwitterIt should be up and running.
In a nutshell, TwitterIt is an excellent script that works extremely well with Adium. It's efficient, reliable, and will help you keep your Twitter and Adium status messages in sync all the time. It's a must-have for frequent Adium and Twitter users.
