With its quick start feature, users can effortlessly find data and receive relevant information about any city or country across the world. To start using VIPlanet, simply open the program and press the "Find data" button. From there, type in the name of the city you wish to explore, for example, "Paris," and a new table containing all records with the word "Paris" will appear.
To get more detailed information about a particular city, double click on any row in the table. A dialog box with information about the selected city will appear. Additionally, users can input a memo-text for the city and see its location on the map by pressing the "Point" button. Users also have the option of inputting text with special fonts and background colors, which will be displayed near the city on the map.
Furthermore, VIPlanet allows users to input new text that will only show up after a specific date, with the possibility for flashing. To access information about a country, simply click on the "Info" button located next to the country name. A dialog box with information about the country will appear, along with the option to input a memo-text for the country.
VIPlanet also provides users with the ability to see only special things from detailed geodata, such as hotels, on the map. By dragging a rectangle on the map with your mouse, you can select a specific area, for example, a part of Austria. Then, in the "Feature codes" table, select the rows that you want to see on the map, such as "a primary administrative division of a country" or "a building providing lodging and/or meals for the public" for hotels. After selecting the appropriate rows, press the "Refresh map" button, and the map will display only the selected features. VIPlanet also allows users to select multiple rows in the table simultaneously by using the "Window / Tile" menu.
