XIFF is a free and open-source Flash library that facilitates instant messaging and presence clients through XMPP (Jabber) protocol.
One of the best features of XIFF is its extension architecture. This architecture makes it incredibly easy to add functionality for additional protocol extensions, or even your own custom extensions. The library already comes with several extensions pre-installed, including support for XML-RPC over XMPP (XEP-0009), Multi-user conferencing (XEP-0045), Service browsing (XEP-0030), and XHTML message support (XEP-0071).
This release of XIFF has some great new improvements and bug fixes. For example, the Roster.as file now ensures that people who are in several groups will only appear in the first group, rather than causing issues with all groups. Additionally, there have been some significant improvements to the Room.as file, addressing issues around kicking users and changing role issues. Lastly, the XMPPStanza.as file is now greatly improved, with all XMPP stanza issues now resolved.
Overall, XIFF is an excellent software library that is well worth considering if you're looking to build your own messaging or presence application. With an architecture that makes it easy to add custom extensions and some great new improvements and bug fixes, this release of XIFF is better than ever.
