The latest version requires PHP update .01 and offers a new random function, text playlist and an editable video gallery. The update also includes the changed path to Youtube/Dailymotion videos since October 2008.
The newest version presents an option to customize the video gallery by editing it from XML. If you want to play YouTube or Dailymotion videos, you can add an HTTP link to the path attribute. Leaving the thumbnail attribute unfilled is alright, as the player automatically extracts the thumbnail used by YouTube or Dailymotion. However, if you prefer to add FLV files, you need to link the thumbnails to avoid loading issues.
This update also allows you to set from the XML file which video you want to autoplay or play first, as well as add titles or descriptions. For further instructions on how to modify the XML file, please refer to the instruction file included.
If you opt to use the gallery as a simple player, just put one video into the XML. Also noteworthy is that the video gallery may be resized to your preference.
Here are the functions you can expect with this Video Gallery Player:
- After the video's meta is loaded, the total time and current time of the video appear, as well as a downloading bar that will initiate upon pressing play.
- The stop button stops the video and returns it to the beginning.
- The play button can be used to start or resume a video.
- The pause button stops the video at its current play-time.
- The volume button sets the volume to its maximum, whereas the mute button sets it to zero.
- Rolling over the mute or volume buttons shows a volume bar that allows you to adjust the volume by dragging or clicking on the bar.
- The Full Screen button makes the player full screen while the Normal Screen button returns the player to its original size.
- The Actual Video Size button shows the video in its actual size, and the Default button sets the player to its default settings.
