Project database software compatible with MS Project that offers access rights and project groups. This user-friendly program allows for easy management of users and is perfect for small groups or departments, including those in branch offices. Access control is granted through Windows-login and installation is a breeze.
Access control is managed through Windows-login. Installation is simple and it is best suited for small groups and departments. Rights can be transferred over servers, ensuring protection for all departments. The archive function is present, allowing for projects to be moved inside the server from one project group to another.
Projects may be opened with read/write or read-only permission using Microsoft Project Standard or Professional. Users needing read-only access can use Afinion Project-Viewer to view projects and print Gantt charts.
The Afinion Smart Project Server can be used as a reliable archive as well. Projects can be set to archive status, which means they can be opened as read-only. Administrators can reset their status to active at any time.
Access permissions are administered using a three-level model: Project Groups, User Groups, and Users. User Groups have read-only, read/write, or no access to Project Groups. Users can belong to several user groups, but projects can belong to one Project Group only. All assignments can be modified later if needed.
Using the Afinion Smart Project Server Enterprise Edition, project groups covering every department and site can be created so that users in different companies and countries can access projects.
There is no need for a standard installation as all functions are readily available in the front end (Afinion Project-Viewer) supplied together with the Afinion Smart Project Server. However, setting up your SQL Server or MSDE is required. An Add-In to Microsoft Project allows for direct opening, editing, and saving of projects stored in the SQL database.
