Grace ASCII Import Wizard enables fast and precise creation of 2D x-y plots from ASCII files.
There are two versions of gaiw available for MacOSX: gaiw2grace, which executes xmgrace in the X11 environment, and gaiw2pdf, which bypasses X11 entirely and directly produces a PDF that is opened in the Apple preview application. For further information and detailed installation instructions, check out the included readme files.
Here are some key features you can expect with Grace ASCII Import Wizard:
- It is freely available under an open-source license (GPL)
- It runs on all Qt-supported Unix platforms, including MacOSX
- It allows you to create any number of graphs, each with any X and Y variable from any file, making it easy to compare variables across files
- It can read all ASCII files, as long as there's at least one header line with variable names
- It handles gzip'd or bzip2'd data files without any issues
- It provides an intuitive interface for defining the most common plot options (check out the screenshots for more detailed information)
- It can save batch commands, if you need to process several data files automatically
- It is user-friendly and easy to use
To use gaiw, you will need Trolltech's Qt 3 framework (3.3 or higher), which you can install via a binary installer available at their website. Additionally, you'll need to install the M.Lund binary pack for Grace 5.1.6, which is available via the provided link. Lastly, note that while Windows is supported by Qt, gaiw has not yet been tested on that platform. If you're a developer who can help with Windows testing, get in touch!
