ShiJing, also known as Book of Odes, is a collection of 311 poems dating from the Zhou Dynasty to the Spring & Autumn Period in ancient China. It includes songs, poems and hymns, and is considered the beginning of Chinese literature.
What's particularly interesting is that the poems were collected from central China and the lower HuangHe (Yellow River) Valley of north China, which is the same region where Chinese civilization began and flourished. The collection includes poems from today's ShanXi, Shan3Xi, ShanDong, HeNan, and HuBei provinces.
Overall, it's an incredibly fascinating read and one that provides a window into China's past. Whether you're a history buff or simply interested in exploring different cultures, ShiJing is definitely worth checking out.
