xElements is specialized software that creates visual representations of atoms called Bohr diagrams, specifically for chemical elements.
One of the most useful features of xElements is its ability to generate different isotopes and ions for the first 20 elements. This feature is especially handy as these 20 elements follow the "octet rule". Furthermore, the images created by xElements can be easily exported, copied or dragged into other programs such as iWork '05 (Pages and Keynote) and OmniG.
The only limitation of xElements is that the demo version only allows you to access and modify 4 elements. Nevertheless, this should not deter high school students and educators as there are still plenty of features and elements to explore with xElements.
