This software is a Linux distribution that specifically caters to secondary and high schools.
The ALT Linux project came into existence in 2001 through a collaboration of two significant Russian free software initiatives. In only seven years, it grew into a massive organization that focuses on developing and deploying free software, writing technical literature and documentation, providing customer support, and creating custom products. ALT Linux produces various types of distributions. There are desktop editions for personal and office computers and corporate servers, universal releases with multiple development tools and documentation, certified products for educational institutions, and distributions customized for low-powered computers.
To develop different editions of ALT Linux, the organization utilizes its own development infrastructure and repository called Sisyphus. This infrastructure provides the basis for all the different versions of ALT Linux, which are distinguished by their purpose and nature.
