Check_aaccli is a Nagios plug-in that monitors Adaptec SCSI RAID Controllers' well-being.
The plugin is capable of checking the health of both single disks, which includes the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T) feature, and containers of type "Mirror." However, stripes are currently not supported.
When called without any parameters, the plugin will return the statement "OK - no problems" along with the number of disks and containers detected. For debugging purposes, the plugin can be called with the "-v" option to provide detailed status reports for each component checked.
There are specific requirements and installation instructions to be followed in order to utilize this software. For example, after unpacking the archive, the "./configure" command must be called and attention should be paid to the "--with-noinst-level" option to define the exit code if no aaccli binary was installed.
Furthermore, users must obtain the appropriate aaccli/aacapps package for their Linux distribution and install it. In order to run check_aaccli as a non-root user, sudo-privileges must be granted to call aaccli as root without providing a password.
As for examples of different error conditions, the plugin is capable of providing warnings about an imminent disk failure, alerts for when a mirror half has failed, and indications of when a previously failed mirror half has been replaced.
Overall, the most recent release of check_aaccli includes support for RAID 5.
