Dbxbandmin software collects traffic through firewall rules and saves it to an Interbase database for analysis. It supports ipchains, iptables, and ipfwadm-rules.
To use dbxbandmin, you need a kernel with firewall-support, ipfwadm or ipchains, iptables, the Interbase-client, Perl 5.xx, pE 5.5, IBPerl0.8x, DBI-Modul for Perl, and DBD::Interbase. If unsure about the parts required, you can use the install.sh for reports.
Before using dbxbandmin, you must install a "listening" firewall-policy using the tool tng-acc-bandminstart. The installation instructions are detailed in the TNG-installation guide. You can get an overview of the options available by typing "./tng-acc-bandmin --help". If you require a German explanation, you can type "./tng-acc-bandmin --language=german --help". To remove the firewall-policy, you can use tng-acc-bandminstop.
The latest release of dbxbandmin includes several updates, such as added POD-documentation about all, checking if "kennung" exists, simple and human-readable config files, fixed misspelled words, and a switch to use a special config file. Additionally, the software now supports virtualization of "DBI"-driver, which means the DBI-Call is fully configurable by configfile or switch. An example for a configfile is also included.
If you have any questions after reading the documentation, do not hesitate to ask the dbxbandmin team or Marco from TNG for assistance.
