DCD is a Linux CD player designed for the easy use of slackers created by a developer known as a slacker.
The installation process for dcd is fairly straightforward. Simply take a look at the Makefile and make any necessary changes, like creating a symlink to your "real" CD-ROM device. You can also enable debugging flags, although this may not be necessary. More detailed configuration options are spelled out in the Makefile as well. Once you've made your changes, type `make' and then `make install' or copy the binary and manual page (dcd.1) manually to a convenient location.
In the latest release of dcd, network support has been removed and moved to the Makefile for Thinstation. Overall, if you're seeking a no-frills CD player that gets the job done without any clutter or complexity, dcd may be worth a try.
