Fonty-rg provides a collection of fonts specifically designed for Linux console use.
This font is highly recommended for Linux users who require Unicode support in their console. However, it's important to note that this is a 512-character font, which means that bold color on the Linux console will be lost unless you are using a framebuffer.
Another useful font in the fonty-rg project is the chavo.psf font. It has a broad range of ISO-8859-2 repertoire, including some additional ISO-8859-1 characters, Esperanto characters, and Russian Cyrillic characters. The font was explicitly created to support Czech, Slovak, Polish, German, Hungarian, Russian, and Esperanto languages.
This font is ideal for users who want to retain bold colors and don't require some of the ISO-8859-1 characters, since there simply wasn't enough space for them. To build or modify the fonts, run the build.sh script or edit files in the source/ directory. If you want to add new charsets, put *.txt files in the charsets/ directory.
Finally, to use the fonts, two small scripts are provided, iso and uni. The iso script takes the ISO-8859 encoding number and switches the console font into one specific to that encoding. On the other hand, the uni script switches the console to Unicode mode, which uses a big Unicode font. See the manpages for more information.
