Convert digital photos to video using a tool that creates MPEG movie streams.
As someone who has been producing photos with a digital camera for years, I was on the hunt for a solution that would allow me to display my pictures on the TV. While SVCDs with MPEG still images offered great display quality, they didn't allow for transitions between the photos or the addition of music. That's where image2mpeg comes in.
Not only does image2mpeg provide transitions and music options for your slideshows, but it also includes a script for generating credits and title streams. What's more, the tool now supports the Ken Burns Effect, which allows you to pan and zoom photos during display.
Image2mpeg runs on Linux and should work on other UNIX platforms, provided the necessary packages are available. If you're looking to convert your streams into VCD or SVCD formats, you may want to consider using VCDimager. And for DVD authoring, I personally recommend DVDStyler.
Most of the necessary packages should be included in your Linux distribution. Installation is easy - simply download and install the RPM package or extract the source tarball and run through the installation process as the root user. With image2mpeg, you're ready to turn your pictures into high-quality, dynamic slideshows that are sure to impress. Have fun!
