This software is a SDL port of three classic games - Mercenary, Damocles, and Dion Crisis. Enjoy the old-school gameplay on modern platforms with enhanced graphics and controls.
This game required players to locate underground complexes, find objects, and sell them at the appropriate stations to afford to buy a replacement ship. The gameplay also involved saving a planet from a comet that was about to hit it (part II: Damocles) and stopping a maniac from taking control over the system (part III: Dion Crisis). Parts II and III involve simple interplanetary flight, whereas part I was bound to a single planet.
MDDClone-SDL, in its current state, is a non-playable tech demo of Mercenary I. Players can walk through doors of underground complexes, teleport to different complexes, and observe how objects are drawn. The game has a Keys file that players can read to familiarize themselves with the available keys in the game.
One downside to this software is that the source code cannot be released. This is because the algorithms contained in Mercenary may still be in use by the Novagen team for commercial purposes, even if they are not called by that name today. Therefore, without their explicit permission, it would be inappropriate to freely publish what should be considered their work.
