MILLE-XTERM is a Linux-based project focused on creating a functional and user-friendly terminal interface.
Several school districts in Quebec are already using MILLE-XTERM to great effect. These include CS Laval, CS de la Seigneurie des Mille Iles, CS Affluents, CS Grandes Seigneuries, and CS Coeur des Vallées. Together, these districts have deployed over 200 XTERM terminals powered by MILLE-XTERM. Globally, over 800 XTERM terminals are now running on the open-source platform.
MILLE-XTERM is an evolving technology that is constantly being updated with new features and functionalities. The latest release includes support for USB key storage devices on terminals, better multimedia support, and NBD swap for low memory terminals. Other highlights include a new way to define users' login scripts, updated hardware lists, and support for local applications.
The installation process has also been streamlined, with RPMS packages now handling the entire process. The configurator has also been improved to allow for the definition of custom properties. Additionally, MILLE-XTERM now supports the limit of bandwidth consumption of terminals, and classroom management through TeacherTool.
Users will appreciate the increased documentation provided with MILLE-XTERM, which helps with installation and management processes. All in all, this is a well-crafted solution for those seeking an easy-to-deploy, highly manageable XTERM environment.
