mp3dup scans directories recursively to identify identical files.
Upon scanning your directory, mp3dup parses your files and sorts them into a hash table based on file size. It then md5sums files with the same size and inserts them into a new hash table for further processing. Duplicate files with similar sizes and md5sums are then subjected to brute-force-diffing to fully verify their duplicity.
mp3dup conveniently skips non-regular files and also prints out empty files. But aside from rooting out exact duplicates, this software can also help you identify files that share similarities in either the first or last N bytes. It does so by hashing those parts of the files and comparing any collisions between them.
Recent developments in this software have also improved its accuracy, ensuring that identical files are no longer reported as Match:ID3 too. In summary, mp3dup is an easy-to-use software that makes file management and organization a breeze.
