Mobs is a lightweight and user-friendly GPL build system with limited application framework.
Developers are also provided with some useful development helpers, including a makefile framework and an interface for end-users, labeled as the 0 script. mobs supports automatic building of C, C++, Bison/Yacc, Flex/Lex, and Texinfo source files, as well as the creation of static and shared libraries and binaries.
This build system is not a clone of the GNU autoconf/automake and instead works differently from the developer's point of view. The command line of the 0 script mimics that of GNU 'configure' but it is only for the convenience of end-users.
To use mobs, a POSIX/SUSv3 shell is necessary, with GNU Bash and Zsh being optimal choices. Additionally, you will need GNU make, the widespread GCC compiler collection, and GNU binutils (though your system's linker may work in some situations).
Finally, in the latest version, this project is now licensed under GPLv2 solely, rather than any later version of the GPL. Overall, if you are looking for an efficient and easy-to-use build system, My Own Building System is a top-tier option.
