This software gathers information on MySQL's runtime and configuration in a quick and efficient manner. It can help users diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and improve database performance.
There are several options available when using MySAR, including the ability to connect to a remote host to perform tests, specifying a different socket for a local connection, and setting a port to use for the connection. Additionally, a username and password must be specified for authentication purposes.
Users can gather global variable values and status values by using the "--variables" and "--status" options, respectively. At least one of these options must be specified. Users can also specify a file with a list of variables or status variables to monitor. The default is to monitor all variables or status variables.
For specifying variables or status variables, users can use the wildcard "%" as a placeholder. The database schema that contains the tables for value_var and value_stat can also be specified. The default schema is mysar.
Lastly, users can set the number of days to keep in the table(s) being updated by using the "--purge" option. Additionally, users can record the process list with the "--process" option, although this is turned off by default. Overall, MySAR is a useful tool for gathering and storing information from a MySQL server.
