Pgpgpg is a software tool that serves as a wrapper to Gnu Privacy Guard, providing added functionality to the encryption program.
The purpose of pgpgpg is to create a command line syntax that is identical to PGP 2.6, but compatible with GnuPG. With this wrapper, most applications and scripts written for PGP 2.6 will also work comfortably with GnuPG. Furthermore, using pgpgpg ensures that applications benefit from GnuPG's lack of patented, non-free, or commercial RSA/IDEA algorithms.
However, it is worth noting that while applications that only use basic encryption, signing, or decryption functionalities of PGP should run efficiently with pgpgpg, apps that parse the output of PGP 2.6 or public keyring listings might not work well with the current release.
The new release of pgpgpg enhances pgpopts_build_argv() documentation and helps users guess the type of armored data on decryption. Its Makefile now includes guessarmortype.[ch], which is a function that allows users to determine the specific type of armored data.
