PortageMonitor is a Superkaramba-based tool that provides a comprehensive overview of available system and world ebuild updates on a Gentoo platform.
In addition, PortageMonitor allows users to view available ebuild updates in the order they would be merged or sorted by the package name. Each ebuild shown on the screen also displays detailed information, such as the current version installed and useflags, by clicking the bullet icon next to it.
This software comes with a few requirements that users must take into consideration before installing. These include having SuperKaramba and PyQt installed, as well as the user running this theme having to be in the portage group. It should also be noted that the update interval is only supported in Superkaramba 0.39 or greater. If you want to change the update interval manually, you can change the interval variable in PortageMonitor.theme to one of the following (or anything else): 12 hours = 43200000, 1 day = 86400000, 3 days = 259200000, 1 week = 604800000, 2 weeks = 1209600000, 1 month = 2419200000.
Overall, my experience using PortageMonitor was a positive one. It was easy to use and the ability to customize update options was a nice touch. In the latest release, a bug was also fixed where PortageMonitor couldn't locate python modules to load when run directly from the .theme file (only affects Superkaramba 0.36).
