QWPython is a QuakeWorld server that operates on Python programming language.
To use the QWPython project, you'll need Python 2.0 or higher, as well as Quake/QuakeWorld .PAK files. The latest release has some notable improvements. For example, the WinNT/Win2K service version of the Capture-The-Flag mode has been added. Additionally, the C code that handles PAK files has been removed since Python handles that now.
The download code has been reworked to integrate properly with the Python resource-loading code. The developers have also tested the project against Debian 2.2 and fixed any issues that prevented it from running smoothly. The Sys_Error() function has been modified so that it exits the game loop and raises a Python exception.
The Python "pakfile" module has been cleaned up, and the translated Capture-The-Flag mode has been refined by hand since the automated translation was not perfect. Overall, the QWPython project is a powerful and flexible tool that lets you manipulate and play with Quake games in exciting new ways.
