Robocop 2D is an action-packed game that involves guiding Robocop through multiple Detroit levels.
The game is set in a world where crime runs rampant in old Detroit. Gangs riot and fight freely on the streets, causing destruction and mayhem. While the city is being destroyed, Omni Consumer Products (OCP) is pleased with these events because they can now begin construction of their own controlled Delta City. However, to hide their plan to do nothing while Detroit crumbles, OCP begins mass production of their outdated crime prevention units. These units are cheaply assembled using organic systems from executed convicts and programmed to kill not only the guilty but also the innocent.
In this dystopian world, Robocop is the only force standing between OCP's army of robotic cops and their plan for complete control. The controls of the game are straightforward, with movement, fire, crouch, jump, and pause options available on both the keyboard and joypad. The brightness, music, FPS display, energy bar/counter, and game info options can be adjusted using the function keys F1 to F6. The game can be exited at any time using the Esc key.
To start a game, press "Z" on the keyboard or Button 1 on any connected joypad. To switch button layout, press "X" or Button 2. To display the game version and total games played, hold "C" or Button 3. The settings will automatically be saved.
During the game, the energy bar displays the remaining energy level, while the Robo Heads indicate the lives left. The time display keeps track of the time taken to complete each stage, and the Special Icon indicates the available special abilities. The Weapon Icon shows the current weapon, and the Weapon Lights display the weapon fire rate level. When battling bosses, the White Bar indicates their energy level.
In addition to the primary Auto-9 weapon, players can collect additional weapons, including Multi, Power, and Explode. They can also gather collectibles such as extra lives, energy, ammo multi, ammo power, ammo explode, and time. The Micro Chip can be collected for Robocop to overclock his CPU, which allows him to see and aim faster.
Players can unleash a Firerain missile to clear the entire screen of enemies by pressing Fire+Crouch+Jump when the special ability is selected. The game offers an engaging and thrilling experience for players who love action games.
