This software reminds users to take stretch breaks to avoid RSIs with animated figures demonstrating proper stretches. It also includes a Healthy Computing module and workstation setup guide to reduce stress and aches. Developed by health care professionals.
The software is simple to install and use, with one mouse click initiating the stretching session with the on-screen figures. You can select the time between stretch sessions, the number of stretches per session, as well as choose the sequence and duration of stretches. Additionally, there are two timer options - the Standard Timer or the Smart Timer, which monitors keyboard and mouse activity to determine the time to the next break. The software also plays music during breaks.
Stretch Break was designed by a team of health care professionals who carefully reviewed each stretch in the program to focus on body parts most vulnerable to RSIs, including the neck, arms, hands, back, legs, and wrists. Eye exercises are also included. The current version, 6.6, contains 42 carefully curated stretches, with some targeting the muscles associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. There is also an included Healthy Computing module with a workstation setup guide. The software is network-compatible, with site licenses available.
Key features of the software include a visible countdown timer, 'Bring it Home' licensing, the ability to set on-the-hour and half-hour timers, and an administrative module to track usage patterns. Stretch Break's research shows that it works, making it an ideal solution for users seeking to prevent RSIs. There is also a Call Center Option, and the stretching exercises are all based on yoga.
