A file server software that easily integrates into your existing infrastructure and provides a secure and efficient way to store, share, and manage files. It is designed to be easy to use and scalable to fit the needs of small to large businesses.
The server allows users to manage files in private or public storage, and it comes configured with preconfigured word group and netbios name. The Samba user accounts synchronize with UNIX user accounts, and shares are preconfigured to include users' home directories, public storage, and CD-ROM with automount and unmount hooks.
eXtplorer's configuration allows web interface access and comes preconfigured with admin and guest users. It works around permission issues with eXtplorer, includes flip to convert text file endings between UNIX and DOS formats, and supports popular compression formats like zip, rar, and bz2.
Accessing the file server via Samba on the command line is simple, with command options available for both smbclient and mount. Default credentials are root for webmin, webshell, SSH, and Samba with no password (user sets password during installation). For eXtplorer, default username and password are admin/turnkey and guest/turnkey respectively. Local FTP authentication is done using UNIX users.
TurnKey File Server Live CD appliance includes all the standard features in TurnKey Core, and on top of that, there's SSL support out of the box and a Webmin module for configuring Samba. All secrets are regenerated during installation/first boot for enhanced security. Default storage is set to /srv/storage, and user access to private and public storage is seamless, making TurnKey File Server Live CD an ideal solution for file sharing and management.
